The seminar

Mr. Luu Trung Manh, CEO of Carbon emphasized that, in the context of strong integration and globalization, Vietnam's supporting industry in general and the metal casting industry in particular are having opportunities, prospects, and challenges.

In fact, in order to build and develop the supporting industry in Vietnam, the Government, ministries, especially the Ministry of Industry and Trade have been interested in promulgating many mechanisms and policies for years, however, they have not yet "touched" enterprises in supporting industries. Many targets of the supporting industry have failed to achieve, for example, in the automobile industry, the target set for the period 2010-2020, the localization rate must reach 60%, but currently only 7 -8%. Similar to the mechanical industry until 2020, the localization rate is 75%, but the domestic mechanical engineering technology, in general, is still a simple one.

Talking to Vietnam Economic News, Mr. Pham Chi Cuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Metal Casting Science and Technology said that out of about 500 enterprises operating in this field, only about 200 enterprises have enough capacity to respond to the requirements of foreign manufacturers.

To develop the foundry industry in particular and the supporting industry in general, Vietnam needs to come up with a long-term and sustainable overall strategy. Accordingly, focusing on areas where Vietnam still has "room" for development, preferential mechanisms, and policies to encourage investment attraction, issues of capital, premises, training policies, etc. In addition, the participation and support of enterprises such as Carbon in training are also very important, because this will contribute to promoting students' interest in casting.

Carbon Company awarded scholarships to students majoring in metal casting with excellent achievements.
